Our approach to Corporate
Social Responsibility
When Growthbuilt was created in 2005, its Founders conceptualised a company that was built on strong values and that would focus on exceeding the expectations of clients while enriching the communities that it operated within. To this day, Growthbuilt voluntarily and proactively integrates environmental, social and ethical considerations into all its decision-making processes. While these decisions take different forms, decisions are filtered and questioned to help ensure that Growthbuilt’s actions and inactions, are geared towards leaving a positive impact on the world.
Safety
Safety is our top priority—for our people, subcontractors, clients, and the communities in which we operate. Our commitment is simple: everyone goes home safely every day.
- We uphold a strong safety culture embedded in our systems, behaviours, and decision-making. This culture is built on collaboration, consultation, and robust planning.
- We take a proactive approach through:
- Safety First: Prioritising safety in all decisions and actions, ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
- Collaborative Safety Planning: Engaging all stakeholders to identify and mitigate risks before work begins.
- Vigilant Monitoring: Continuously assessing the environment to detect and respond to potential hazards.
- Safety Advocacy: Promoting shared responsibility, open communication, and immediate action on any concerns.
We actively promote a culture where safety is everyone’s responsibility. By embedding safety in our systems, culture, and daily behaviours, we ensure everyone on site—and around it—goes home safely each day. This is how we live our commitment to Safety First.
Sustainability
.
Growthbuilt’s sustainable practices are centred around sound decision-making, integrating environmental, economic, and social considerations across all aspects of our business. This mindset shapes how we engage our people and collaborate with clients, consultants, and communities. We are committed to reducing our environmental footprint through innovative design, sustainable on-site practices, and the use of recyclable and renewable materials. We recognise that new technologies can further drive sustainable outcomes, and we continually assess emerging methods, products, partners, and tools that enhance long-term impact. Our approach also supports broader community and economic outcomes — from supporting local trades and suppliers to embedding sustainability awareness and training in delivery. We actively promote community engagement to ensure our projects reflect local values and enhance wellbeing. By combining practical initiatives with thoughtful collaboration, we deliver places that support connected, resilient communities and leave a meaningful, lasting impact.
Diversity and Inclusion
Growthbuilt recognises that diversity is one of the factors that has made Australia such a strong and vibrant country. However, our company recognises that many communities and people have not received equal opportunities and support.
Gender Equality
Growthbuilt’s workforce currently comprise 22 per cent women. The company has been actively promoting an innovative campaign aimed at attracting more females to the construction industry. This campaign is demystifying some of the misconceptions about the construction industry while aiming to promote the many benefits of working within it. An example of the innovative and proactive campaign can be viewed here.
Indigenous Participation
Indigenous Australians have made an incredibly positive impact on the construction industry across various levels and facets. Growthbuilt and its clients invest heavily into attracting indigenous workers, indigenous owned business and consultants to their various projects.
Supporting Australian Sport and Athletes
Growthbuilt staff are especially passionate about sport and believe that sport has the ability to bring communities together, improve physical and mental health, create lasting friendships and develop teamwork skills.
Sydney University Australian National Football Club (SUANFC)
At Growthbuilt, we believe sport builds more than strength—it builds character, community, and teamwork. That’s why we proudly support the Growthbuilt Sydney University Australian National Football Club (SUANFC), a club that offers students and Inner West community members the opportunity to play AFL in an inclusive environment welcoming of all skill levels. In partnership with Sydney University Sport, SUANFC also supports talented student athletes through the Elite Athlete Program, which has helped over 2,500 students balance academic achievement with sporting excellence since 1990. For elite and developing student athletes, the right assistance is critical in promoting high performance outcomes. SUANFC, the oldest AFL club in NSW, fields teams across all levels and has seen strong post-pandemic growth, with multiple finals appearances and individual honours. Its inclusive culture provides a ‘home away from home’ for young athletes relocating to Sydney. Growthbuilt is honoured to help power the club’s continued success.
Charitable Giving
Where possible and when aligned with its larger Corporate Social Responsibility goals, Growthbuilt looks to support Australian not-for-profits through direct giving or pro bono work.
Sydney Children’s Hospital: Renovation project within the CICU Hostel and Medical Imaging Department
Growthbuilt recently completed a pro bono renovation at Sydney Children’s Hospital, revitalising the Children’s Intensive Care Unit (CICU) Hostel and Medical Imaging Department. The works included updated flooring, joinery, painting, bathrooms, and new blinds, along with thoughtfully designed child-friendly spaces. These improvements were aimed at creating a more comforting and functional environment for children and families during difficult times — a contribution to a place where care and resilience matter most.
